 QUETTA, 5 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Quetta Garrison on Saturday and reaffirmed that the peace, prosperity and well-being of the people of Balochistan remain a top priority for the state.  KHUZDAR, 05 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Earthquake tremors were felt in Khuzdar and surrounding areas of Balochistan on Friday, causing panic among residents. According to the Seismic Monitoring Centre, the earthquake measured 3.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres. The seismic centre said the epicentre was located approximately 75 kilometres northwest of Khuzdar. Following the tremors, residents reportedly came out of their homes and shops and gathered in open areas as a precautionary measure. No casualties or property damage were reported immediately following the earthquake. Authorities are monitoring the situation and have advised citizens to remain calm and take necessary precautionary measures in case of any emergency.

 ISLAMABAD, 05 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Saturday conducted large-scale combing and search operations in different areas of the federal capital as part of ongoing security measures. During the operations, police checked 277 people, 83 houses, 58 shops and 21 hotels, while 16 suspicious persons were shifted to police stations for further verification. An official said police teams were thoroughly briefed before the operations, while female police personnel also participated in the search activities. Police also checked 109 motorcycles and 56 vehicles at various locations. KARACHI, 05 September, 2026(Ghufran): Police have submitted a charge sheet in the Gul Plaza fire case, holding the shopping centre’s management primarily responsible for the deadly blaze that claimed the lives of more than 70 people in January. The three-storey Gul Plaza shopping centre, which housed nearly 1,200 businesses, was engulfed by fire on January 17, raising serious concerns over fire safety standards and emergency preparedness in Karachi. According to the charge sheet submitted before a Karachi court on Saturday, investigators found no negligence on the part of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), the fire brigade or Civil Defence. Police have listed 87 witnesses in the case and identified serious shortcomings in the fire safety arrangements at the shopping centre.
