ISLAMABAD, 05 September, 2026 (Ghufran): Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) has been selected as one of the 16 founding members of the Asia-Pacific Media Partnership Organizing Committee, formally launched at the Asia-Pacific Media Forum in Shenzhen, China. The selection is a significant recognition for Pakistan’s national broadcaster and will provide the country representation on an important regional platform aimed at promoting cooperation among media organisations and research institutions across the Asia-Pacific region. The Organizing Committee will work on the rules and procedures of the Partnership Programme and coordinate activities under its framework, with Xinhua News Agency hosting the programme’s secretariat. The Partnership will focus on high-level dialogue, coordinated communication, technological innovation and practical cooperation. It is expected to promote news and content exchange, joint reporting and productions, professional training, newsroom modernisation and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence. PBC’s membership will enable Pakistan to contribute to regional media cooperation, share its perspective with international audiences, develop professional partnerships and benefit from training, technological expertise and joint projects. Director General PBC Saeed Ahmed Shaikh thanked the Forum for selecting PBC as a founding member, saying the Corporation was grateful for the trust placed in Pakistan and the country’s oldest broadcast media institution. The Asia-Pacific Media Forum was held under the theme “Building a Path to Shared Prosperity for the Asia-Pacific Community: Media Consensus and Action.” Around 400 delegates from 42 countries and regions participated in the event, representing more than 200 mainstream media organisations, international bodies, research institutions, embassies and think tanks.
