ISLAMABAD, September 5, 2026 (Ghufran): Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has said that the creation of new administrative units should be based on the wishes of the people, describing a “system reset” as the need of the hour. Speaking on Saturday, Naqvi clarified his earlier remarks regarding the “collapse of the system,” saying they were not directed at any particular political party. “Reset does not mean breaking down the system. Reset means making wrongs right,” he said. The Interior Minister explained that when an institution or company fails to perform effectively, discussions are held to identify ways to improve its functioning rather than dismantle it. Naqvi said that any work on the creation of new administrative units would move forward only if it had the backing and support of the people of Pakistan. He emphasized that public opinion should remain central to any decision concerning changes in the country’s administrative structure. The minister’s remarks come amid discussions about improving governance and administrative efficiency, with the government stressing that any major structural changes should reflect the aspirations and consent of the people.
