Two hundred and sixteen prisoners at Karachi’s Malir Jail escaped

3 June 2025, Karachi(News Desk): Last night, two hundred and sixteen inmates at Karachi's Malir Jail conducted a jailbreak and escaped after taking advantage of confusion following yesterday's mild, localized earthquake. The ensuing confusion quickly spiraled into a riot-like situation, turning the prison into what officials described as a "battlefield." Prison authorities opened fire in an attempt to regain control. During the confrontation, at least five security personnel, including two Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, sustained injuries. One prisoner was killed and three others were injured.
