Karachi, 27 July 2026(Kamran Raja): President Asif Ali Zardari chaired a high-level meeting to review the progress of various Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and cooperation initiatives between the Government of Sindh and leading Chinese companies, directing all stakeholders to expedite the implementation of agreed projects and complete the remaining procedural and technical requirements without delay.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister House, was attended by delegations from Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. and Luoyang Modern Biology Group. Facilitated by the China-Pakistan-Africa Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Association, the meeting assessed the implementation status of ongoing collaborative initiatives and discussed measures to accelerate their execution.
The President was briefed on progress in key areas of cooperation, including electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, veterinary biological vaccines, animal identification and traceability systems, agricultural technology, healthcare, fire safety equipment, and other priority sectors. Officials also highlighted the Government of Sindh’s efforts to coordinate with Chinese partners and facilitate the timely implementation of these projects.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China, President Zardari said the Government remains fully committed to facilitating Chinese businesses and investors. He emphasized that Pakistan highly values its enduring friendship with China and is determined to deepen economic collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), particularly as CPEC 2.0 enters a new phase of development.
The President noted that his regular visits to China reflect Pakistan’s strong commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and promoting mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
During discussions with Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., the President was informed about the company’s plans to manufacture and supply EV charging stations and develop supporting infrastructure across Sindh. Deliberations focused on EV charging stations, solar-storage-charging facilities, energy storage systems, smart charging networks, technology transfer, and capacity-building initiatives.
Highlighting the province’s potential, President Zardari observed that Karachi and Hyderabad offer significant opportunities for EV infrastructure development, while the Karachi-Hyderabad M-9 Motorway could serve as a strategic corridor for establishing intercity charging facilities. He expressed confidence that the partnership would support Pakistan’s transition toward green mobility and contribute to the growth of the country’s new energy sector.
The meeting also reviewed cooperation between the Government of Sindh and Luoyang Modern Biology Group in the fields of veterinary biological vaccines and animal identification and traceability. The President was briefed on the cooperation roadmap, including the ongoing visit of the Chinese delegation, the planned visit of a delegation from the Sindh Institute of Animal Husbandry to China in August 2026, and technical collaboration relating to the Sindh-08 strain of foot-and-mouth disease.
It was noted that vaccine trials in both China and Pakistan are expected to conclude by November 2026, after which project costs and implementation timelines will be finalized.
President Zardari appreciated the collaboration between the Government of Sindh and Luoyang Modern Biology Group, observing that the initiatives would strengthen veterinary disease prevention, improve livestock management, enhance disease control, and reinforce food safety standards.
He directed that all remaining procedural and technical requirements be completed at the earliest to ensure the swift implementation of the agreed initiatives.
The President further emphasized that the development of a modern animal track-and-trace system, combined with cooperation in disease diagnosis and vaccine development, would significantly improve livestock management while enhancing the international competitiveness of Pakistan’s livestock and livestock products.
The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah, Senator Saleem Mandviwala, Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani, Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Sindh Minister for Agriculture Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, Chief Secretary Sindh Syed Asif Hyder Shah, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister for Investment and Public-Private Partnerships Syed Qasim Naveed Qamar, Dr. Asim Hussain, and senior government officials.
The Chinese delegation included Chairman and Founder of Anhui Nengtong New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. Tao Xu, President of the China-Africa & Asia Trade & Cooperation Promotion Association Ms. Hao Yuejiao, representatives of Luoyang Modern Biology Group Yao Shumli, Wei Xuefeng, Bai Xue, and other members of the visiting delegation.
