Polling Underway in PS-30 Khairpur By-Election

Khairpur, August 16, 2026(Nosheen): Polling is underway on Sunday in Sindh Assembly constituency PS-30 Khairpur, where voters are casting their ballots to elect a new representative following the death of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) lawmaker Naeem Ahmed Kharl. A total of 254,980 registered voters, including male and female voters, are eligible to cast their votes in the constituency.The Election Commission of Pakistan has established 164 polling stations across the Gambat and Sobhodero tehsils of Khairpur district. Of these, 64 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive, 68 sensitive, while the remaining polling stations have been classified as normal. RAWALPINDI, 15 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Security forces conducted a successful intelligence-based operation against terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan in the Shor Parod mountain range of Khuzdar, security sources said. According to the sources, intelligence information was used to identify terrorist hideouts, following which security forces cordoned off the area and conducted operations at several locations.The terrorists were reportedly present in three small groups. BAGH, 15 August, 2026 (Ghufran): The unofficial results for two constituencies in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Bagh division have been finalised following re-polling at 23 polling stations, with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) securing one seat each.PPP candidate Sardar Zia-ul-Qamar won constituency LA-15 Bagh-II, while PML-N candidate Sardar Mir Akbar Khan secured victory in LA-16 Bagh-III.In LA-15, the counting process was completed following re-polling at nine polling stations. SC Lahore Registry Disposes of 305 Cases in Four Days

LAHORE, 15 August, 2026 (Ghufran): A three-member bench of the Supreme Court at its Lahore Registry disposed of 305 cases during four days of hearings held from August 10 to 13.The bench, headed by Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar, heard a total of 412 cases listed before the Lahore Registry during the four-day proceedings.According to an official report, the regular bench rejected 268 petitions, accepted 18 petitions and disposed of three other matters during the hearings.The court also fixed fresh hearing dates for 110 cases, while the remaining matters were dealt with in accordance with the orders passed by the bench.The proceedings reflected the Supreme Court’s continued efforts to expedite the disposal of pending cases and provide timely judicial relief to litigants.
