Dera Ismail Khan, 26 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): At least 12 people were killed and 35 others injured on Saturday when an explosives-laden vehicle was rammed into the Aman Mela police checkpost in Darazinda tehsil of Dera Ismail Khan, officials said. DI Khan Regional Police Officer Ghulam Mubashir Maken confirmed the casualties based on an initial assessment, saying no law enforcement or security personnel were among the deceased, which included a Customs official and civilians. The deceased comprised nine men, two women and a minor. According to police and Rescue 1122 officials, an unidentified attacker rammed an explosives-laden tractor trolley into the checkpost, with District Police Officer Ziauddin Ahmed confirming it was a suicide blast. The explosion destroyed a large portion of the checkpost and completely demolished an adjacent house, while heavy firing was also reported after the blast. Rescue teams, police officials and other emergency personnel reached the site and launched relief and evacuation operations. A bomb disposal team was also dispatched to examine the scene and determine the nature of the explosion. More than 25 rescue personnel, six ambulances and a fire vehicle participated in the relief operation, while four additional ambulances were sent from DI Khan to assist in evacuating the injured to hospitals.
