Serena Hotels proudly tees off the second season of the two-week "Tee to Triumph" golf training programme for young girls, under the Sports Diplomacy Initiative. This initiative, in collaboration with the Margalla Greens Golf Club, aims to provide these aspiring golfers with a platform to learn and improve their skills in a sport that is both challenging and rewarding. The training programme, currently underway at the scenic Margalla Greens Golf Club, is attracting enthusiastic participation from over 25 young girls. They are being trained under the expert supervision of the club's coaches. The programme will conclude on August 1, 2024, with a closing ceremony. Non-communicable diseases are alarmingly on the rise in Pakistan. 1100 people dying daily due to diabetes and its complications, over 300 limbs removed every day. Pakistan has 3rd highest burden of people living with diabetes with 33 million diabetics, apart from this 10 million people are pre-diabetic. Without immediate policy action number of people living with diabetes will increase to 62 million by 2045. Consumption of If modifiable risk factors of these diseases are controlled, the spread of these diseases can be reduced to a great extent. Ultra-processed food and beverage products are being particularly high in sugar, salt and/or trans-fats. EXERCISE BARRACUDA-XII COMMENCES AT KARACHI

International Exercise BARRACUDA-XII formally commences today at Headquarters Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Karachi. The event started with an impressive flag hoisting ceremony followed by wreath laying on Shuhadas monument. The ceremony was attended by observers from 13 friendly countries and officers of Pakistan Navy and PMSA. Exercise BARRACUDA-XII is scheduled from 02-04 Jan 24 and comprising Harbour and Sea phases. Opening brief of the exercise was held at Karachi. Federal Minister for climate change Ahmed Irfan Aslam graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
