ISLAMABAD, 14 August, 2026 (Ghufran): The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new chipless National Identity Card featuring a secure QR code, marking a significant step toward self-reliance in digital identification and reducing dependence on imported microchips. The newly designed polycarbonate card has been manufactured domestically in Pakistan by the National Security Printing Company (NSPC), Karachi, in accordance with NADRA’s technical and security specifications. QUETTA, 14 August, 2026 (Nosheen): Six police personnel were injured when armed assailants ambushed the convoy of Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langau in Mastung, while the provincial minister remained safe.According to Mastung police, the minister’s convoy was travelling from Kalat to Quetta when armed men ambushed it at Guru in the Khadkocha area of Mastung district and opened fire. Six police personnel sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.Police said the attackers fled the scene following the incident, while a search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the assailants.
