Pakistan, UK Reaffirm Commitment to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

ISLAMABAD, August 14, 2026 (Kamran Raja): UK High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations, regional developments and matters of mutual interest.Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar appreciated the positive momentum in Pakistan-UK relations and recalled his recent meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband on the sidelines of the ASEAN Regional Forum in Manila.Ishaq Dar highlighted the importance of maintaining sustained high-level contacts between the two countries and discussed key areas of mutual interest as well as ways to further strengthen bilateral cooperation.Recent regional and international developments also came under discussion. The deputy prime minister stressed that the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) should be implemented by all parties in letter and spirit. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s position that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only way forward for resolving outstanding issues and promoting regional peace and stability.During the meeting, UK High Commissioner Jane Marriott conveyed warm wishes to the Pakistani nation on the occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day.
