ISLAMABAD, 13 August, 2026 (Kamran): Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has extended heartfelt felicitations to the nation on Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Muslims of the subcontinent and the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in achieving an independent homeland.The Chairman Senate said August 14 reminds the nation of the priceless blessing of freedom and the sacrifices rendered by its forefathers. He stressed that safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty, security, democracy and prosperity was a shared national responsibility.Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the teachings of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal, particularly the principles of unity, faith and discipline, should continue to guide the nation. He emphasized the importance of national unity, political stability, constitutional supremacy, rule of law and mutual respect.
He said Pakistan’s future was closely linked with its youth and stressed the need to provide them with quality education, skills and employment opportunities so they could play an effective role in national development.The Chairman Senate paid tribute to the Pakistan Armed Forces and security institutions for their sacrifices in defending the motherland, combating terrorism and maintaining peace. He said Parliament would continue to strengthen democracy, uphold the Constitution and protect the fundamental rights of the people.He called upon the nation to set aside differences, prioritize the national interest and renew its commitment to building a strong, peaceful, prosperous, developed and democratic Pakistan in accordance with the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.He prayed for Pakistan’s security, stability, progress and prosperity and for the continued unity, peace and strength of the nation.
