06 August , 2026 (Ghufran): Fresh Russian strikes across Ukraine have killed at least six people and injured dozens more after attacks targeted residential areas in the eastern Kharkiv and northern Sumy regions, according to Ukrainian authorities. Officials said three people were killed when Russian strikes hit residential neighborhoods in the town of Balakliia, located in the Kharkiv region. In the northern Sumy region, another three people lost their lives in attacks on several settlements, while at least 19 others sustained injuries. Additionally, guided aerial bombs struck Sumy city, wounding 12 more civilians.
In southern Kherson, a drone attack on a civilian van left six people injured, local authorities reported. Meanwhile, Russia claimed it had targeted two cargo vessels near Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Odesa, alleging that the ships were transporting military supplies. Ukrainian officials rejected the claim, stating that a foreign-flagged vessel carrying wheat was damaged in the strike. The attack reportedly killed one crew member and triggered a fire aboard the ship. The latest escalation comes amid continued long-range attacks by both Russia and Ukraine, with no indication that peace negotiations will resume in the near future. Both countries continue to deny intentionally targeting civilian populations during the conflict.
