THE PAKISTAN TIMESMuhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the newly elected Prime Minister, on Sunday presented a number of initiatives aimed at offsetting rampant inflation, high cost of living, rising prices, circular debt in the energy sector and abroad, at the same time expressing optimism that, despite many existing challenges, they are not insurmountable. In his first speech to the National Assembly, the Prime Minister-elect also offered an olive branch to protesters opposing the “Conciliation Charter besides reiterating his determination in pursuing an “economic charter”.

Shehbaz Sharif has been Elected Prime Minister for the second time by a total of 201 votes by the newly formed National Assembly, about three weeks after the conclusion of the general election, which resulted in the formation of a coalition government. He said after the general election they have two options before them:; either to defend their policies or to save the country, but the leaders of allied parties prioritized the interests of the country and decided to play their role for the bright future of their compatriots. Shehbaz said Pakistan has abundant natural resources and talented youth that can help the country escape difficulties.
