Islamabad, 1 August , 2026(Nosheen): Pakistan has issued a flood alert after India released water from the Salal Dam for the eleventh consecutive time. According to the relevant authorities, a water inflow of approximately 90,000 cusecs from India is expected to enter Pakistan, prompting emergency preparedness measures. While water flows in most of the country’s rivers remain within normal limits, low to medium flood conditions continue to prevail at various points along the Indus River. Rising water levels have inundated several villages in Sehwan, causing concern among local authorities and residents.
According to flood monitoring officials, a medium-level flood persists at Sukkur Barrage, while low-level flooding has been recorded at Kalabagh, Chashma, and Guddu barrages. A low flood level has also been observed at Head Balloki on the Ravi River.Meanwhile, water flows at most key locations on the Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Ravi, and Kabul rivers remain within normal ranges. A decrease in water discharge has been recorded at Chacharan Sharif and Benazir Bridge, where the outflow stands at 218,978 cusecs.
Water levels in Pakistan’s major reservoirs have also increased. Tarbela Dam has reached an elevation of 1,539 feet and is now 89 percent full, matching its storage level during the same period last year. Mangla Dam has surpassed 1,196 feet in water level and is currently 57 percent full. The concerned authorities are closely monitoring the situation across rivers, barrages, and low-lying areas. District administrations, rescue services, and disaster management agencies have been directed to remain on high alert and ensure preparedness for any emergency. Residents living near rivers and in vulnerable areas have been advised to stay vigilant, avoid unnecessary movement near riverbanks, and strictly follow official safety advisories.
