22 May 2026(Kamran Raja):Pakistan Army has intensified its counterterrorism operations across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in the killing of 23 militants linked to Fitna-al-Khwarij during the past 48 hours.
The intelligence-based operations were conducted in the areas of Datta Khel, Spinwam, and Bannu, where troops engaged multiple militant hideouts after receiving credible intelligence reports.
Among those killed was Jan Meer alias Toor Saqib, described by officials as a key militant commander wanted in several attacks against security forces and civilians. Authorities had reportedly announced a head money reward for his capture.
During the operations, security personnel recovered weapons, ammunition, explosives, and improvised explosive devices. Forces also uncovered and demolished underground tunnels and fortified bunkers allegedly used by militants for movement and concealment.
Officials stated that clearance and sanitization operations remain underway to ensure complete elimination of terrorist elements from the affected areas. The operations are part of Pakistan’s broader national counterterrorism framework under “Azm-e-Istehkam,” aimed at strengthening internal security and dismantling militant networks nationwide.
