Islamabad, 15 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Justice Munib Akhtar took oath as Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan during the absence of Chief Justice Yahya Afridi. The oath-taking ceremony was held at the Supreme Court on Thursday, where Justice Jamal Mandokhail administered the oath. Supreme Court judges, court staff and other prominent personalities attended the ceremony. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi is expected to return from his private visit to England on October 21, after which he will resume his official duties. Meanwhile, Justice Munib Akhtar will discharge the responsibilities of Acting Chief Justice and oversee judicial affairs until Chief Justice Yahya Afridi returns.
