Heavy Rain Causes Flooding in Gaza, Submerges Tents of 70,000 Displaced Palestinians

Islamabad, 8 November, 2026 (Nosheen): Heavy rainfall marking the beginning of winter in Gaza has worsened the suffering of Palestinian families displaced by Israeli attacks, with thousands of makeshift tents flooded and temporary shelters rendered uninhabitable. Torrential rain inundated tent settlements across several areas, soaking the belongings, bedding, blankets and mattresses of thousands of families. According to reports, around 70,000 tents were affected by rainwater over the past 12 hours, leaving tens of thousands of displaced Palestinians facing severe hardships. Women, children, elderly people and patients are among those particularly affected by the deteriorating conditions. Gaza’s Civil Defence Service said it received approximately 1,500 emergency calls from residents seeking assistance within just 10 hours of the rainfall. Water levels reportedly rose between 30 and 40 centimetres in several locations, forcing people living in tents and temporary shelters to move to safer places. The flooding has further intensified the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where thousands of families are already struggling with inadequate shelter and limited resources.
