Russian Ballistic Missiles Strike Kyiv as US Envoys Leave
KYIV, 8 September 2026 (Kamran Raja): Russia resumed airstrikes on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv early Tuesday, shortly after U.S. peace envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff departed following a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, with Russian ballistic missile strikes injuring six people and damaging residential buildings, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. Klitschko said people were trapped inside a residential building and fires broke out in several parts of the city following the strikes. The Kyiv Military Administration said separately that falling debris damaged a five-storey apartment building and a three-storey residential block, while urging residents to seek shelter.
