 National Emergencies Operation Center anticipated that Rain, wind and  thundershower with isolated heavy rainfall is anticipated in the catchment areas of River Chenab till 18th August 2024. Consequently, the Chenab River is expected to reach High to Very High level flows which may result in inundation in low lying areas & damage of infrastructure. All villages/towns or settlements near Marala, Khanki, Qadirabad,  especially along the flood plain, can be affected by increasing flows . An impressive Change of Guard ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah as the entire nation celebrated 78th Independence Day of Pakistan. A smartly turned-out contingent of Pakistan Naval Academy cadets and sailors clad in ceremonial dresses assumed guard duties at Mazar-e-Quaid with traditional enthusiasm, spirit and military customs.Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy, Commodore M Khalid graced the occasion as Chief Guest and reviewed the guard. President Asif Ali Zardari announced the conferment of Pakistan's national awards on 104 Pakistanis and foreigners, in recognition of their services, excellence and sacrifices in their respective fields.
