EPA Conducts Quarterly Compliance Monitoring of Wastewater Plants in Housing Societies and Development Projects

16 December 2024, Islamabad ( Kamran Raja) : Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) has conducted its routine quarterly monitoring of wastewater treatment plants in various housing societies and under-construction projects, including Gulberg, I-12 PHA, and Officers Residencia PHA, to ensure compliance with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) regulations. The primary objective of these visits was to assess the water quality of the final discharge/effluent from these facilities. Wastewater often contains health-hazardous dissolved metals such as arsenic, cadmium, and mercury, which pose significant risks to public health and the environment.
