Islamabad, 20 August 2026 (Kamran Raja): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and Google LLC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Child Online Safety to strengthen digital awareness, online safety and responsible use of digital platforms among children, parents, teachers and caregivers across Pakistan. Under the MoU, PTA and Google will jointly implement a Child Safety Program focusing on awareness, education and capacity-building. The initiative will equip parents and teachers with practical tools, resources and guidance to help children navigate the digital environment safely and responsibly. As part of the collaboration, the two organisations will develop child online safety awareness content in English and local languages, conduct training programs in educational institutions and support a nationwide outreach campaign aimed at connecting millions of families with localized online safety resources and tutorials.Speaking on the occasion, Chairman PTA Major General (R) Hafeez Ur Rehman, HI (M), SI, highlighted the importance of collective efforts and collaboration among stakeholders to safeguard children in an increasingly digital environment.Member (Compliance & Enforcement) PTA Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar emphasized the importance of promoting digital literacy and responsible use of online platforms to create a safer digital environment for children and families across Pakistan. The MoU reflects the shared commitment of PTA and Google to empowering parents and teachers, enhancing digital awareness and promoting safe and responsible use of online platforms.The collaboration is expected to contribute towards creating a more secure digital ecosystem for children and families in Pakistan while strengthening public awareness and capacity to address emerging online safety challenges.
