QUETTA, 16 August, 2026 (Ghufran): Women politicians in Balochistan have strongly condemned alleged attacks by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) against civilians, women and children, calling for an end to terrorism and violence in the province.Addressing a press conference alongside Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola and Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Minister’s Adviser Meena Majeed Baloch said militants allegedly entered a house and killed 50-year-old Bibi Hanifa and her 17-year-old daughter.Meena Majeed Baloch said militants affiliated with what she described as “Fitna al-Hindustan” were targeting civilians, women and children. She said the government would continue efforts to eliminate terrorism from Balochistan and promote peace, development, prosperity and education across the province.She stressed that peaceful and patriotic Baloch people had no connection with terrorists and should not be associated with acts of violence.Meena said action was being taken against those responsible for the killing of Asma Jattak’s father, adding that the presence of “Fitna al-Hindustan” in Balochistan was, in her view, an established fact.She urged people to stand against those attacking women and said militants were attempting to spread fear by violating the sanctity of homes.
Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani strongly condemned attacks on Baloch women, saying terrorists could not achieve their objectives by targeting women. She questioned what militants hoped to accomplish by killing women in the province.Balochistan Assembly Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola said those responsible for the killings of women would be brought to justice. She said the issue was particularly significant for parliamentarians and stressed that women hold a highly respected position in both Baloch and Pashtun traditions.Hadia Nawaz expressed serious concern over the killing of women inside their homes, saying such incidents had raised questions about the safety of ordinary citizens. She urged people to speak out against terrorism and stand united against violence.She said the state had provided employment opportunities for women and education for girls, while terrorists had targeted the same communities.Chief Minister’s Adviser Shahid Rind said neither women nor children were safe from militants, alleging that terrorists were also exploiting women and children to advance their objectives.The participants called for collective efforts to counter terrorism, protect civilians and strengthen peace, education and development in Balochistan.
