Washington, 3 August , 2026 (Ghufran): The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed an eight-year ban on United States cricketer Akhilesh Reddy after finding him guilty of multiple breaches of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, including match-fixing-related offences. According to the ICC, disciplinary proceedings against the 26-year-old began in November last year following alleged violations during the Abu Dhabi T10 League. He had been provisionally suspended while the investigation was underway.
Following a detailed inquiry, an independent ICC Tribunal found Reddy guilty of attempting to influence the outcome of matches, trying to recruit another player into corrupt activities, and destroying evidence relevant to the investigation. The investigation also revealed that Reddy deleted messages and other data from his mobile phone that were considered significant evidence in the case.
The ICC stated that the eight-year suspension is backdated to November 21, 2025. The governing body further noted that Reddy’s attempt to involve another player in corrupt activities was unsuccessful. Akhilesh Reddy last represented the United States in an international match in April 2025. The ICC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the integrity of cricket and enforcing strict anti-corruption measures across all levels of the game.
