Prime Minister Meets Chinese Foreign Minister Wang YiIslamabad, 21 August 2025[Kamran Raja]: Minister for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to Pakistan, called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the Prime Minister’s House earlier this evening. Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Chief of the Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and senior members of the Cabinet were also present.

Welcoming the Chinese Foreign Minister, the Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for the leadership, government, and people of China for their steadfast support to Pakistan in safeguarding its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national development. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for China on its core issues and reiterated the commitment to further deepen the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership, as envisioned by the leadership and cherished by the peoples of both countries.

The Prime Minister lauded President Xi Jinping’s visionary leadership and his pivotal role in strengthening the ironclad friendship between Pakistan and China. Recalling his most cordial and productive meeting with President Xi in Beijing last year, the Prime Minister said he greatly looked forward to his upcoming visit to Tianjin and Beijing to participate in the SCO CHS meeting and the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance and the World Anti-Fascist War. He added that he was eager to meet with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and other senior Chinese leaders during the forthcoming visit.

Underscoring Pakistan’s desire to expand cooperation with China, the Prime Minister highlighted key areas including trade, investment, ICT, agriculture, industrialization, mines and minerals, and other vital sectors. He emphasized the central role of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Pakistan’s socio-economic development and regional connectivity, while expressing satisfaction over the steady progress of CPEC Phase-II.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi thanked the Prime Minister for his remarks and reaffirmed that China regards Pakistan as an ironclad friend and all-weather strategic partner. He expressed China’s strong desire to elevate bilateral ties to new heights of cooperation and collaboration. Commending Pakistan’s resolute commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Mr. Wang Yi assured that China would continue to work closely with Pakistan to promote regional peace, development, and stability.
