Highlights Pakistan–China Collaboration in Livestock Health and Disease Prevention.
Urumqi, China 11 August 2025(Kamran Raja): Senator Saleem Mandviwalla, Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue, has signed a landmark biotechnology cooperation agreement between Pakistan and the Luoyang Modern Biotechnology Research Institute Co., Ltd., marking a new chapter in Pakistan–China scientific and economic collaboration.
The signing took place during a high-level conference at the Xinjiang Kunlun Hotel in Urumqi, hosted by the Luoyang Modern Biotechnology Research Institute. The event brought together senior Chinese government officials, renowned scientists, and industry leaders to discuss advancing biotechnology innovation, particularly in the fields of livestock health and disease prevention.
In his keynote address, Senator Mandviwalla underscored the strategic importance of bilateral cooperation in agricultural biotechnology, aligning with the objectives of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He noted that such partnerships are vital for boosting livestock productivity, safeguarding food security, and strengthening economic ties between the two nations.
Senator Mandviwalla expressed his gratitude to leading Chinese officials and experts, including Mr. Wang Shanpu, Mr. Yu Kangzhen, and Mr. Lai Jing Gang, as well as the Modern Biotechnology Group and the China Veterinary Association, for their contributions in uniting global expertise to address critical challenges in animal health.
He also paid tribute to President Xi Jinping’s vision for advancing the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which continues to foster transformative projects across Asia and beyond. Reflecting on Pakistan’s political legacy, the Senator honored the late Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and acknowledged the contributions of President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman & former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to progressive reforms and global partnerships.
The agreement represents a major milestone in deepening Pakistan–China cooperation in biotechnology and is expected to pave the way for groundbreaking research, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
