UN Resident Coordinator Muhammad Yahya Calls on NA Speaker Ayaz Sadiq

ISLAMABAD, 24 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): United Nations Resident Coordinator in Pakistan Muhammad Yahya called on National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq at Parliament House, Islamabad, on Monday. During the meeting, Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq appreciated Muhammad Yahya’s services as UN Resident Coordinator in Pakistan and commended his contribution to strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and the United Nations. The Speaker said that Pakistan-UN cooperation is based on mutual trust, partnership and shared objectives. He noted that the United Nations’ support for Pakistan’s development and the welfare of its people is highly valuable.Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also appreciated the UN’s role in addressing humanitarian issues and crises, saying that its contribution in this regard has always been commendable. He expressed hope that cooperation between Pakistan and the United Nations would continue to grow and strengthen in the future.Highlighting the importance of women’s empowerment, the Speaker said that the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus and the Gender Mainstreaming Committee are aimed at creating an enabling environment for women, strengthening their role in society and ensuring greater attention to women-related issues.Sardar Ayaz Sadiq also expressed his best wishes to Muhammad Yahya for success in his future responsibilities. Muhammad Yahya thanked the National Assembly Speaker for his good wishes and words of appreciation. He said that during his stay in Pakistan, he received immense respect, warmth and cooperation from the government and people of Pakistan, which he would always value and remember.
