Trump threatens further destruction of Iran, says decision on next move will come soon

Washington, 6 November, 2026 (Ghufran): US President Donald Trump has warned that Iran could face further destruction, saying Washington may consider expanding its military action against the country and that its next decision would become clear soon. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Thursday, Trump said he would prefer not to destroy what remains of Iran but suggested that further action could be necessary to ensure the country does not pose a future threat. He said the United States was considering whether to take additional steps to ensure that the situation would not arise again. Trump also estimated that Iran could need 25 years to rebuild following the US-Israeli military campaign that began on February 28 and remains unresolved. Asked about reports that Tehran had conveyed proposals concerning the future of its nuclear programme to Washington through mediators, Trump said Iran was not taking any action without US approval. Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that its Aerospace Force had brought down two US MQM-170 reconnaissance drones over Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz using advanced electronic warfare systems. According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the incidents brought the number of MQM-170 drones Iran claims to have downed during the conflict to six. The IRGC issued two separate statements but did not provide further details about the reported incidents. Tehran had previously claimed to have shot down four similar US drones in the Strait of Hormuz area. The latest claims and Trump’s remarks come amid continuing military tensions between Iran and the United States following the US-Israeli offensive against Iran, which began on February 28.
