UK Foreign Secretary statement on Elections in Pakistan
The UK and Pakistan have a close and long-standing relationship, underpinned by the strong bond between the two peoples. Following yesterday's election, we congratulate everyone who voted.
However, we recognize serious concerns about the fairness and lack of inclusiveness of the elections. We regret that not all parties were officially allowed to participate in the elections and that legal procedures were used to prevent some political leaders from participating and to prevent the use of symbols, Recognizable symbol of the party.
