PTA Intensifies Crackdown on Illegal Issuance of SIMs

Islamabad (21st October 2024): The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in close collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, Lahore conducted a successful raid against Telenor franchisee located at Kot Addu. This franchisee was found to be involved in illegal issuance of SIMs. During the raid, 166 finger prints, one mobile phone and one Laptop were recovered from the franchisee. The FIA team confiscated these devices as evidence. One person was arrested at the spot and FIR has been registered by the agency. FIA is further investigating the case. PTA Receives Proposals for Spectrum Auction Consultancy in Pakistan

To enhance the experience of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) in Pakistan, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has received five proposals from international consultants for providing consultancy services for the upcoming spectrum auction. The following firms have submitted their technical and financial bids: 1. Aetha Consulting Limited 2. Detecon Consulting FZ-LLC 3. Frontier Economics Limited 4. KomKonsult (Private) Limited 5. National Economic Research Associates Inc.
