22nd January 2025, Islamabad (Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s directive to give priority to transparency and merit in the selection of students to be sent to China for training in the agricultural sector. Instructions to form a committee to resolve the complaints of students who do not meet the selection criteria during the scrutiny of applications through the Prime Minister’s portal.
Prime Minister said China is a long-time friend of Pakistan whose development in the agricultural sector is unparalleled. During his visit to China, he requested the Chinese leadership for modern training of Pakistani students in the agricultural sector. The government of Pakistan will bear the entire cost of modern agricultural training of Pakistani students in China. By the grace of Allah, very soon the first batch of male and female students will leave for China for modern training in the field of agriculture.
Among the male and female students going to China for advanced training in the agricultural sector, 10 percent special quota has been allocated for the students of Balochistan. We are grateful to the Chinese leadership and Chinese universities for giving Pakistani students the opportunity to receive advanced agricultural training in China. Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a review meeting in Islamabad today regarding the Pakistani male and female students going to China for training in modern agriculture. In the meeting, the Prime Minister was told that the students belonging to the agricultural sector should submit their applications through the portal in a transparent manner. Out of 1287 applications, 711 male and female students met the prescribed standards of training. Candidates from Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan are also included in these students. The meeting was further informed that these students will be sent to China in two batches. In the first batch, 300 male and female students will be sent for training in the fields of improvement in irrigation, diagnosis and monitoring of diseases in cattle, breeding of cattle, modern genetics and production and processing of modern seeds. The first batch of students will leave for China in March 2025. The meeting was further informed that the second batch of 400 students will be sent to China in the middle of this year for the use of modern machinery in agriculture, rapid growth of crops, modern technology in agriculture including use of artificial intelligence and processing of fruits and vegetables. Training will be given in the fields of
Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Ahad Khan Cheema, Chairman Higher Education Commission and relevant senior officials participated in the meeting.
