President Zardari Approves Foreign Visits of Supreme Court and Federal Constitutional Court Chief Justices

Islamabad , 13 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): President Asif Ali Zardari, on the advice of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, has approved ex-Pakistan leave and issued no-objection certificates (NOCs) for Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi and Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan to undertake upcoming foreign visits. According to a press release issued by the Presidency, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi will visit the United Kingdom, South Korea and Japan from October 14 to 21 and October 27 to November 4. Meanwhile, Justice Aminuddin Khan will visit Azerbaijan from October 19 to 22 to attend TÜRK-AY, a conference of constitutional courts and institutions exercising constitutional jurisdiction across the Turkic world. The Federal Constitutional Court was admitted as an observer to TÜRK-AY in July this year, nearly four years after the forum was established. Under the relevant rules governing leave, pensions and privileges for judges, the president is the competent authority to grant leave to the chief justices of both courts, while each chief justice has the authority to approve or refuse leave for other judges of their respective court. In April 2025, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi led a delegation to the 20th Conference of Chief Justices of the Supreme Courts of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation member states in Hangzhou, China. In June this year, Justice Aminuddin Khan represented Pakistan at the 14th St. Petersburg International Legal Forum in Russia.
