DUBAI, 14 August, 2026 (Ghufran): The Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony to commemorate Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, marked by national spirit, pride and enthusiasm. A large number of members of the Pakistani community residing in the United Arab Emirates, officers and officials of the Consulate General, and distinguished guests attended the ceremony.Addressing the gathering, Fawad Ali Khan, Acting Consul General of Pakistan in Dubai, extended heartfelt greetings to the Pakistani community on Independence Day. He said that August 14 was not merely a date on the national calendar but a symbol of freedom, sacrifice, determination and national identity.The Acting Consul General paid tribute to the historic struggle for the creation of Pakistan and the sacrifices made for the establishment of the country under the visionary leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He said Quaid-e-Azam not only provided the nation with an independent homeland but also gave it a clear vision based on the principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline.Fawad Ali Khan appreciated the valuable contributions of the Pakistani community in the UAE, saying that Pakistanis were playing an important role in the development of the United Arab Emirates while also contributing to Pakistan’s economy and supporting the welfare of their families back home. He acknowledged the community’s contribution in sending valuable remittances to Pakistan through legal and banking channels, describing it as a practical expression of the commitment of overseas Pakistanis to strengthening the national economy.

The Acting Consul General also visited an art exhibition organized at the Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai in collaboration with Parallel Palette. The exhibition featured artworks by Pakistani artists inspired by Quaid-e-Azam’s ideals and their love for Pakistan.He thanked Parallel Palette and particularly appreciated the creative talents and participation of Ms. Sobeika Fawad, Ms. Afshan Baig, and other Pakistani artists. The exhibition was organized as a tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah in connection with the Government of Pakistan’s observance of 2026 as the “Year of Quaid-e-Azam.”Concluding his address, Fawad Ali Khan paid tribute to the martyrs of Pakistan and their families and urged Pakistanis to remain committed to serving the country with sincerity and dedication. He emphasized the importance of upholding the values and principles that had inspired the Pakistan Movement.The ceremony concluded with a collective prayer for the continued progress, peace, prosperity and well-being of Pakistan.
