Mohammad Amir Denies Reports of Joining Indian Premier League

Islamabad, 3 November, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has dismissed reports suggesting that he could participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), putting an end to speculation surrounding his possible entry into the tournament. Indian media outlets had recently reported that Amir might be eligible to play in the IPL after acquiring British citizenship. However, the cricketer took to social media platform X to clarify his position and reject the reports. In his post, Amir stated that the news circulating about his participation in the IPL was not true. The former Pakistan international became a British citizen in May this year after obtaining a British passport. Recently, he also registered for the Afghanistan Premier League as a British citizen, which further fuelled speculation about his potential participation in the IPL. Amir’s clarification has now put an end to the rumours surrounding his possible involvement in India’s premier T20 cricket competition.
