Key messages of PM Shabaz Shariff’s speech in Geneva International Conference on ‘Climate Resilient Pakistan’
1) Pakistan will put in 50% of the $16 billion; seek support from International community for Pakistan’s first-need recovery.
2) We are at a turning point. Developing world faces multiple crises. Monsoon brought a peninsula of suffering.
3) Pakistan’s recovery is a race against time. 8 % of Pak GDP impacted. All funds diverted to relief of 33 million.
4) Nothing can go back to business as usual. Resource gaps are too big. Hard choices, painful reforms have to be made. Life has changed forever.
5) $ 8 bill is our gap. Funding gaps will be catastrophic. PM asks for a new lifeline for Pakistan’s flood affecters. Seeks strategic re-set for Pakistan as well as development financing funding streams.
6) Thanks all for the new “coalition of the willing” needed for a new future.
