Ishaq Dar Directs Timely Completion of Arrangements for SCO Summit

ISLAMABAD, 19 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar on Wednesday expressed satisfaction over preparations for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of State summit, which Pakistan is scheduled to host next year, and directed all relevant institutions to ensure the timely completion of arrangements. Chairing a meeting to review preparations for the SCO Summit, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan was fully committed to successfully hosting the SCO meetings and ensuring arrangements of the highest standard. He stressed the need for close coordination among all relevant institutions to ensure the smooth, well-organised and successful hosting of the SCO proceedings. During the meeting, the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) briefed the participants on progress made on various development and infrastructure projects being undertaken as part of preparations for the summit. Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Foreign Secretary Ambassador Amna Baloch, Interior Secretary Ahmad Raza Sarwar, CDA Chairman, National Coordinator SCO and other senior officials from relevant ministries attended the meeting. Ishaq Dar directed all concerned authorities to maintain close coordination and complete the required arrangements within the stipulated timelines to ensure Pakistan’s successful hosting of the important regional summit.
