Islamabad, 06 August, 2026 (Ghufran): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a series of significant police reforms aimed at modernizing Pakistan’s law enforcement system following a meeting with Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) who recently completed specialized training programmes in China and Türkiye. During the meeting, the ASPs briefed the Interior Minister on advanced policing practices they observed during their overseas training. They shared insights into the use of modern surveillance systems, cutting-edge policing technologies, specialized equipment, and effective strategies for maintaining law and order. The officers noted that the international exposure had significantly enhanced their professional knowledge and operational capabilities. Speaking on the occasion, Mohsin Naqvi announced that overseas training would become a permanent component of the professional development programme for police officers across Pakistan. He emphasized that equipping law enforcement personnel with international best practices is essential for building a modern, efficient, and technology-driven police force.
The Interior Minister also unveiled plans to launch a pilot project in Islamabad to establish a China-style law enforcement investigation centre. The proposed facility will integrate detention, investigation, and summary trial procedures under one roof, enabling the swift and efficient disposal of minor criminal cases.Naqvi stated that Pakistan would continue studying successful policing models from around the world and adapt them according to local requirements to further strengthen the country’s law enforcement system.Highlighting the role of technology in public safety, the Interior Minister said modern surveillance systems and advanced technological tools would significantly improve crime monitoring and prevention. He further announced that the Aviation Wing of the Ministry of Interior would be equipped with advanced drones to enhance surveillance capabilities and support crime prevention operations. The announced reforms reflect the government’s commitment to transforming Pakistan’s policing system through innovation, technology, and international cooperation, with the ultimate goal of improving public safety and ensuring more effective law enforcement nationwide.
