The Prime Minister will represent Pakistan in the high-level segment of the 28th Conference of Parties to be held in the United Arab Emirates on December 1 and 2.

PM said Climate change is a national security issue for countries like Pakistan. Pakistan is playing a positive role in the global environmental debate through its environmental diplomacy.
Despite Pakistan’s contribution to global climate change being less than one percent, Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change.
Last year, one third of Pakistan’s population was affected by floods as a result of climate change. All institutions of Pakistan are performing the task of reconstruction in the best way after the devastating floods.

Institutions should make full preparations to present Pakistan’s position on climate finance and other related issues in COP 28. An inter-ministerial review meeting regarding the 28th United Nations Conference of Parties COP28 was held in Islamabad today under the chairmanship of Caretaker Prime Minister Anwarul Haq Kakar.

Talking to the participants of the meeting, the Prime Minister said that climate change is a national security issue for countries like Pakistan. He further said that despite the fact that Pakistan’s contribution to global climate change is less than one percent, Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change. He said that as a result of climate change last year, one third of Pakistan’s population was affected by floods. He further said that Pakistan is playing a positive role in the global environmental debate through its environmental diplomacy.

The Prime Minister directed that institutions should make full preparations to present Pakistan’s stand on climate finance and other related issues in COP28. The Prime Minister will represent Pakistan in the high-level segment of the 28th Conference of Parties to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on December 1 and 2.

The meeting was attended by the supervising federal ministers of finance, foreign affairs, energy, climate change, planning and related government officials.
