Bilawal Bhutto Alleges Irregularities in Second Phase of AJK Elections

Islamabad, 2 August 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has alleged electoral irregularities during the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) local government elections, claiming that the Election Commission had failed to address complaints raised after the first phase of polling. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Bilawal Bhutto said the Election Commission had not taken action on the party’s complaints regarding the first phase of the elections. He maintained that timely action could have helped restore confidence in the electoral process ahead of the second phase.

The PPP chairman said the party reserves the right to stage protests and demand re-elections if its concerns are not addressed. Bilawal Bhutto further claimed that the party had already submitted several written complaints regarding alleged ballot box stuffing and the unlawful removal of PPP polling agents from polling stations during the second phase of voting. He expressed hope that the Election Commission would take immediate notice of the complaints and ensure transparency, fairness, and justice in the electoral process, particularly during the ongoing second phase of the elections. The Election Commission had not issued an official response to Bilawal Bhutto’s allegations at the time this statement was released.
