Tehran, 25 October, 2026 (Nosheen): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that a possible resumption of war with Israel and the United States would not change Iran’s policies or positions, amid growing threats of renewed attacks against the country. Speaking at a televised event in Tehran, Araghchi said that while discussions about a new war were increasing, he was already considering the post-war period. He warned that previous military campaigns had failed to produce a different outcome and said any new attempt would yield similar results. His remarks followed US President Donald Trump’s statement on Friday that Washington “may do another little Epic Fury,” referring to the US-Israeli war against Iran that began on February 28. An April 8 ceasefire between Iran and the United States brought an end to the most intense fighting, although sporadic exchanges continued around the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global energy supplies. Military tensions have eased in recent weeks, but Iran has maintained its claim of control over the strait and has targeted vessels attempting to cross without its authorisation, moves opposed by Washington and regional countries. In response, the United States has continued its naval counter-blockade of Iranian ports. In June, Iran and the United States agreed on an Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding intended to establish a path towards a permanent settlement, but the agreement later collapsed as both sides accused each other of violations. Tehran has since called for a return to the accord to end the conflict. Araghchi said the war had fundamentally changed regional realities, adding that shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz and its management would not return to their previous state. He stressed that lasting peace and stability in the region required the complete withdrawal of foreign forces.
