Organized by the Italian NGO, CESVI, the event was attended by the Danish Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Jakob Linulf, and representatives of the European Agency for Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO), Mr. Filippo Ortolani, member of DRR National Disaster Management. Regulator Mr. Idrees Mehsud and Managing Director PDMA Sindh Mr.Imdad Hussain Siddiqui and representatives of many domestic and international non-governmental organizations.
The Event marked the end of a multi-million dollar relief and rehabilitation project implemented by Cesvi in Sindh and Punjab titled “Humanitarian Assistance to Flood-Vulnerable Communities in Pakistan”, funded by ECHO, in which more than 40,000 households including more than 250,000 people Residents in flood-affected districts received various forms of assistance, including cash grants, shelter rehabilitation, WASH kits, livelihood support and capacity building training.
The event also included a panel discussion in which panelists discussed ways to further improve aid delivery mechanisms in Pakistan and create greater harmony among various stakeholders. Natural disaster risk management was also a main content of the discussions.
