Mumbai, 19 October, 2026 (Nosheen): Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed in a shooting incident in Mumbai’s Juhu area, while his driver and a bystander sustained injuries, according to local media reports. The incident occurred at around 7pm as Shroff was leaving his workplace, Indian newspaper The Hindu reported, citing an official. Mumbai Zone-II Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said the actor’s driver, identified as Firdaus, sustained an injury to his left hand, while a bystander identified as Chauhan was also wounded. Both injured individuals were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Maharashtra Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis directed Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti to investigate the incident and take action against those responsible. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said public safety remained the government’s top priority and warned that attempts to threaten the film industry would not be tolerated. He recalled that Mumbai had overcome an era of gang violence in the 1990s with the help of the police and said authorities would not allow criminal networks to re-emerge.
Meanwhile, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) expressed serious concern over the shooting, warning that repeated attacks had created fear among Bollywood personalities. The association cited previous incidents, including gunfire outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra, the stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan at his home, shooting outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence and repeated attacks on comedian Kapil Sharma’s café. It alleged that these incidents suggested a pattern of targeting film industry figures for intimidation and extortion. The association urged the government and police to take strict action, demanding the immediate arrest of the alleged shooters and those who ordered the attack, stronger security for actors and their families, and measures to dismantle extortion networks. Separately, local media reported that an unverified social media post had claimed responsibility for the shooting and allegedly threatened people in Mumbai’s film industry who worked with Salman Khan and refused to comply with the group’s demands. Authorities have not publicly confirmed the claim, and the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.
