Islamabad, 17 October, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) has strongly responded to what he described as disrespectful and inappropriate remarks by Maulana Fazlur Rehman about martyrs, stressing that the philosophy of martyrdom and the sacrifices of fallen soldiers are the backbone of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He said that making derogatory remarks about the Pakistan Armed Forces and the martyrs of the Kargil conflict was tantamount to promoting India’s narrative, adding that it was difficult to understand why anyone would do so. Highlighting the immense sacrifices made by the armed forces for the nation, the DG ISPR said Pakistani soldiers were willing to sacrifice their most precious possession, their lives, for the defence of the homeland. He questioned the suggestion that anyone would give up their life merely for a salary, asking whether those making such claims would themselves be prepared to make the same sacrifice. He described such remarks as incomprehensible and reiterated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain ready to lay down their lives at any time to defend the country and its people.
