New York, 25 September, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York and appreciated his continued commitment to promoting peace, stability and development in Pakistan. The prime minister warmly welcomed Prince Rahim and recalled their meeting during his visit to Pakistan earlier this year. Shehbaz Sharif lauded the longstanding contributions of the Ismaili community to Pakistan’s socioeconomic development, particularly in social service and civic engagement. He also appreciated the valuable role of institutions affiliated with the Aga Khan Development Network in promoting financial inclusion and tourism, emphasizing the need to explore further opportunities for cooperation. Prince Rahim Aga Khan expressed gratitude for the prime minister’s warm sentiments and appreciated his efforts to promote regional peace and stability. He reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and AKDN and expanding cooperation in healthcare, education, climate resilience and sustainable socioeconomic development. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also invited Prince Rahim to make regular visits to Pakistan to further strengthen the longstanding bonds of friendship and cooperation.
