New York, 23 September, 2026 (Nosheen): Pakistan and Austria have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, economic relations, education and people-to-people ties. The commitment was expressed during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Austrian Minister for European and International Affairs Beate Meinl-Reisinger on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The two sides expressed satisfaction over the positive trajectory of bilateral relations and exchanged views on regional and international developments, including the situation in the Middle East. Ishaq Dar underscored the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful resolution of disputes in accordance with the UN Charter and international law, while stressing the importance of full implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding by all parties. The Austrian foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace and stability and highlighted the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement in addressing regional and global challenges. Both sides agreed to maintain close engagement on matters of mutual interest.
