ISLAMABAD, 30 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Turkiye on Monday for a two-day official visit, state media reported. According to security sources cited by state-run media, Field Marshal Asim Munir received a warm welcome upon his arrival in Turkiye. During his visit, the CDF is scheduled to hold important meetings with Turkiye’s military and political leadership. The meetings are expected to focus on matters of mutual interest, regional security and bilateral defence cooperation. State-run Pakistan Television and the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) also reported Field Marshal Munir’s arrival in Turkiye and his planned meetings with the Turkish military and political leadership. Last month, Commander of the Turkish Land Forces General Metin Tokel visited Pakistan and met Field Marshal Asim Munir. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two military leaders discussed regional security dynamics and ways to further enhance bilateral defence cooperation. During his visit to Pakistan, General Tokel also held meetings with the country’s naval and air chiefs. The latest visit by Field Marshal Asim Munir reflects the growing defence and security ties between Pakistan and Turkiye and comes as both countries continue to strengthen cooperation on regional and bilateral security matters.Earlier this month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also visited Turkiye, where discussions focused on strengthening economic and trade cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
