Imran Khan’s Sister Seeks Urgent SC Hearing on Contempt Petition

ISLAMABAD, 27 August 2026 (Kamran Raja): Uzma Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has once again approached the Supreme Court seeking an urgent hearing of her contempt of court petition concerning the former prime minister’s hospital transfer. In her latest application, Uzma Khan stated that Imran Khan’s health was deteriorating while he remained in jail and alleged that, contrary to the Supreme Court’s directions, he was taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). She requested the Supreme Court to direct that Imran Khan be shifted to Shifa International Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination and necessary treatment. Uzma Khan maintained that the Supreme Court’s August 18 order had not been implemented in its true spirit and urged the court to ensure immediate and complete compliance with its directives. The application stated that continued non-compliance with judicial orders amounted to a violation of the law. It further argued that the court’s case-fixation policy did not prevent an urgent hearing of a contempt petition. According to the application, an earlier request for an urgent hearing was rejected on August 25. However, it was not clear whether the request had b een rejected by the Chief Justice.Uzma Khan has therefore requested the Supreme Court to fix her contempt of court petition for an immediate hearing and issue appropriate directions regarding Imran Khan’s medical examination and treatment.
