Pakistan Rejects Taliban Regime’s Claims as Misleading, Fabricated

ISLAMABAD, 26 August 2026 (Kamran Raja) — The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected the propaganda being circulated by the Afghan Taliban regime, terming an anti-Pakistan statement by its spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid misleading, fabricated and baseless. According to a fact-check issued by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid made a false claim during an interview with Afghan media outlet Aamaj News. The ministry said the Taliban spokesperson claimed that the Pakistan Army was also present during the armed clashes in Badakhshan. However, available independent reports indicate that the clashes were part of an internal armed struggle linked to Afghanistan’s own security and administrative challenges. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting emphasized that attempts to attribute Afghanistan’s internal violence to Pakistan were misleading and aimed at creating a false narrative against the country. The ministry further stated that the violence in Badakhshan reflected Afghanistan’s own internal security and governance challenges and should not be linked to Pakistan without credible evidence. It reiterated that baseless allegations and fabricated claims against Pakistan could not obscure the facts surrounding the situation in Afghanistan.
