
QUETTA, 14 August, 2026 (Nosheen): Six police personnel were injured when armed assailants ambushed the convoy of Balochistan Home Minister Mir Zia Langau in Mastung, while the provincial minister remained safe.According to Mastung police, the minister’s convoy was travelling from Kalat to Quetta when armed men ambushed it at Guru in the Khadkocha area of Mastung district and opened fire. Six police personnel sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.Police said the attackers fled the scene following the incident, while a search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the assailants.
Balochistan Home Affairs Assistant Babar Yousafzai said the exchange of fire between the attackers and police continued for around 20 minutes. He praised the police personnel for displaying courage and responding strongly to the attack.Sana Malik, emergency in-charge at Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Raisani Hospital in Mastung, said six injured people were brought to the hospital. Three of the injured were later shifted to Quetta for further medical treatment.Following the attack, Balochistan Home Minister Zia Langau said in a statement that such cowardly attacks would not weaken his resolve or lower his morale. He added that he could not be intimidated by what he described as mere “firecrackers.”Security forces and police have intensified efforts to locate the attackers, while further investigations into the incident are underway.
