ISLAMABAD, 10 August, 2026 (Kamran Raja): The government has decided to launch ‘Vision Pakistan 2047’ on August 12 as a major initiative aimed at achieving a trillion-dollar economy and ensuring long-term economic growth and sustainable development. According to sources in the Prime Minister’s Office, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will formally launch the programme, which will provide a long-term framework for strengthening the country’s economy, development and sustainable growth. The vision will include special programmes aimed at creating opportunities for the younger generation in areas such as economic growth, prosperity and innovation. The government has also decided to align the Ministry of Planning’s Uraan Pakistan Plan with Vision Pakistan 2047, while the Prime Minister’s Office has sought strategic targets from all ministries and relevant institutions. Ministries have been directed to submit strategic targets, reforms and long-term development agendas for inclusion in the vision. The plan will cover national development, economic transformation, human capital development and technology, while climate sustainability and governance reforms will also form key components of Vision Pakistan 2047.
