Taylor Swift Blocks Trump-Affiliated TikTok Accounts From Using Her Music

WASHINGTON, 09 August, 2026 (Nosheen): Pop superstar Taylor Swift has made her music unavailable to US President Donald Trump’s political accounts on TikTok after a Trump-affiliated account used her song August in a video featuring Trump and First Lady Melania Trump. The Team Trump TikTok video showed the couple watching fireworks with the message, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president,” and was captioned, “I’m sure Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!” The song has since been removed, with TikTok displaying a notice saying, “This sound isn’t available.” The incident follows earlier use of Swift’s songs Father Figure and The Fate of Ophelia by Trump-affiliated accounts, both of which have subsequently become unavailable on those political accounts.

At least 10 Swift songs or recordings have reportedly been blocked from videos posted by Trump administration or campaign-related accounts, including Red (Taylor’s Version), August, Love Story, Daylight, The Fate of Ophelia, Opalite, Father Figure, I Knew It, I Knew You, Cruel Summer and audio from her Eras Tour. Swift’s music remains available for personal TikTok posts but is restricted from political accounts. The singer endorsed then-Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris in September 2024, after which Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social. Swift is not the only artist to restrict her music from Trump-affiliated accounts, as Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny recently removed the audio for EoO from a White House TikTok post.
